Scholastic Achievers (and Community Service) Chico Blazin Heat would like to acknowledge our student athletes for their focus and discipline in their academic studies, and their individual achievements and contributions to the community. 4.0 GPA or higher: Jordan Cooley (5th Grade Boys) - 4.0 GPA Jordan also walks in the Relay for Life Cancer Walk every year here in Chico. Cale Crawford (7th Grade Boys) - 4.0 GPA at Bidwell Jr. Kevin Kremer (5th Grade Boys) - 4.0 GPA Kevin along with his 2 brothers and sister started a non-profit called passthekindness.com- it was our summer project to inspire people to do acts of kindness. We're delivered wristbands to 5 different continents and over 10 different countries, trying to make the world a better place, one act of kindness at a time! The company was featured in Shasta Parent in November. Shelby McClintock (JV Girls) - 4.0 GPA at Chico High School Drew Minkler (7th Grade Boys) - 4.0 GPA at Bidwell Jr. High School Ben Sanders (8th Grade Boys) - 4.0 Ben Sanders is a member of CJSF at Marsh Junior High. He has volunteered at local elder care homes to visit the residents and has served food at the Jesus Center. He is also a student government representative. Sami Sanders (JV Girls) - 4.0 GPA Sami Sanders is a member of CSF at Chico High. She is a member of National Charity League, and currently serves as Secretary for the 9th grade class and has volunteered with American Cancer Society, Special Olympics, Peg Taylor Center, Butte County Childrens Services and the Jesus Center. 3.5 GPA or higher: Rachel Briscoe (JV Girls) - 3.8 GPA Rachel attends PV High School, and she just got accepted into the Counselor In Training program thru CARD and will be volunteering time this summer working at (surprise) the Sports Camps and the other Day Camps. Ashton Morgan (5th Grade Boys) - 3.8 GPA Ashton will be traveling to Okinawa this July where he has been invited to train with Martial Arts Grand Master Shugoro Nakazato. 3.0 GPA or higher: Serena Schott (JV Girls) - 3.368 GPA Serena Schott is currently serving as 2010 Miss California High. She served as Miss Northern California American Jr Teen in 2009. She is the PV High Athletic Society Vice President and has volunteered for the Knights of Columbus in addition to her community activities as Miss California High. Kyle Zelenski (5th Grade Boys) - 3.4 GPA Kyle helps to feed the homeless at Jesus Center, on monthly basis also serves the community as he volunteers to help with "Love Chico Projects" as he has worked at locals schools to clean/paint/yard work.
